"Judges are just as important as contestants. Without reliable, trustworthy judges, the results of a competition become invalid. However, the question of who should be the judge of skateboarding competitions should only be answered when the type of skateboarding competition has been decided on. If the competition is a local one, it should be judged by the adults who mentor the competitors: the skateboarding coach, athletic director, other sports coaches, or sports-savvy teachers. This is in part because there are no people more qualified in the community to act as judge - not many professional skateboarders can be found to judge a small-town competition."
