- Use the research you have done to complete the template. Write your essay topic as a clear thesis statement. Decide what points you will use in your body paragraphs to support your thesis, and plan your counterclaim paragraph.
How to Write Your 2 Body Paragraphs:
- Choose the 2 main reasons why your audience should agree with your thesis statement.
- Each of those 2 reasons should become a body paragraph.
- Include 2-3 specific examples in each body paragraph that help prove that your reasons to be true.
How to Write Your Counterclaim Paragraph:
- Figure out the what your opponent's STRONGEST argument against you would be.
- Write a rebuttal to that argument: in other words, explain why your opponent's argument is invalid or weak using 2-3 specific pieces of evidence as support. (You want to contradict, refute, or counter your opponent's argument).
- After you give your evidence, don't forget to EXPLAIN how your evidence weakens the opponent's claim.
