Use "Scrible" to Annotate any website...
Using Scrible
Directions:
- Watch the video above as a class.
- Individually, make your own Scrible.com account. (I suggest you use your gmail account to log-in. It seems to work better).
- Instal the Scrible toolbar bookmarklet. (Note: you don't actually download anything. All you need to do is drag the "Scrible bookmarklet" button to the bookmarks bar on your internet browser.)
- Practice using all of the options on the Scrible toolbar (spend about 5 minutes practicing with the tools on any website). Don't forget to practice saving an annotated webpage to your Scrible library.
Annotate an article
Directions:
- Read this article, and make annotations and comments on the text related to the MAIN IDEAS. I will be looking for at least 4 comments and 4 other markings (such as highlighting, underlining, etc.).
- After you have covered the article in comments and markings, save the article to your Scrible library.
Write a summary
Directions:
- On a google or pages document, write a 5-8 sentence summary of the article.
- Don't submit your summary yet! You also need to practice paraphrasing...
Write a paraphrase
Directions:
- Continue using the same article that you summarised. Pick a section of the text to paraphrase that is 2-4 sentences long. Copy the original text onto your document, and write your paraphrase under it, like this:
2. Submit your summary and paraphrase together in one document on Turnitin.com before class ends!
Review: What do I need to submit?
- You should have used Scrible to annotate the article titled "The Pleasure of Acknowledging Indebtedness." You should have saved the annotated page to your Scrible library.
- You should have submitted an assignment on Turnitin.com that included a summary of the article and paraphrase of one passage in the text.
