Unit 3 Final Project Explanation
In the summative project for Unit 3, you will complete 5 steps:
Complete Part 1 of the "Research Process" document, which asks you to summarize your chosen Wikipedia article and identify its flaws. |
Complete Part 2 of the "Research Process" document, which asks you to conduct your own research on the topic so you can add 5 new sources of information to your Wikipedia article. You must also evaluate the credibility of each source you choose to use, and cite each source in MLA format. One source must be a book (or other print source like a newspaper). To get a 4 in this part of the assignment, some of your sources should be highly credible. (Highly credible sources are things like books by experts, JSTOR articles by experts, or information published by universities / governments).
|
Copy your chosen Wikipedia article into a google document, and add your new research into the article using direct quotes, paraphrased information, or summarized information. Add your new citations, fix the article organization, and fix any other problems you found in the original article. You should NOT directly edit the Wikipedia page itself, because it is possible that someone will undo your changes, which means you will lose all your hard work. Click here for an example of a Wikipedia article being converted into a google document.
|
Create a presentation that informs viewers 1) what you did in your research process, 2) what changes you made to the Wikipedia article, and 3) why you made those changes. You can present this information any way you like: poster, Keynote, Prezi, video, website, Glogster, Piktochart...any format you can think of!
In order to prepare for step 5, you should be continually documenting your research process. |
